What is LAYPAA?
LAYPAA a committee of people (any age) in AA that reform each year with new positions. We then meet at least one time per month for our GBM (general business meetings).
We put on fun events, create merch, outreach and connect with other YPAA groups and local recovery groups. We put together a packet advocating for why we (as a committee) think we would be a good fit to host MCYPAA (Michigan Convention of Young People in AA). This happens one time each year around Thanksgiving. Although this is kind of the "end goal" of the committee each year, we do so many things throughout the year not specific to this goal.
For many of us, this gave a sense of purpose, service work, and connection to others that really helped in early sobriety.
To highlight again, YPAA (young people in AA) is not specific to an age group. It is catered towards supporting people getting sober younger, having fun in sobriety, and just connecting with people across the state and even the U.S.
How to get connected? You can email at LAYPAAOUTREACH@gmail.com. There is a Facebook page called LAYPAA you can be added to also.
